Our history:

Established in 1956, 10 years after the new town was created, Citizens Advice Stevenage was set up and run a small group of local people who saw a need in the community. We have been on a huge journey over our 60+ years but our fundamentals remain: to support Stevenage residents to overcome their problems.

Our future:

We are consistently adapting to meet the needs of our community and actively reviewing trends, which gives us a unique opportunity to address key issues.

We don’t just review the issues we see, we also review ourselves to make sure we remain relevant for our community.

We launched our redeveloped our business strategy in 2022, addressing three governing themes - People, Provision and Profile. Click here to read our direction.

Our finances:

Our expenditure is almost entirely spent on our direct charitable activities. In more recent times we have been carrying out small-scale fundraising activities.

We are a charity and therefore accept donations, our income is almost entirely made up of grants and contracts for services.

We aim to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities.

We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination.
